The Karachi Police provided entertainment fodder for Twitterati on Wednesday, with its announcement to launch a skater police force, initially comprising 10 female and 10 male police personnel on skates.
Videos circulated by the police department depicting police personnel gliding on skates, taking aim at pretend targets, were soon improvised by social media users with soundtracks and other such gimmicks adding to the hilarity. The cops, however, say they have a plan.

KARACHI: South Waziristan lawmaker Ali Wazir was sent on physical remand by an anti-terrorism court in Karachi on Saturday.
The MNA and five other accused were presented in court today where the police requested a one-month remand of the accused. However, the court sent them on remand till December 30.

On Friday, officials had confirmed that the Wazir was shifted to the metropolis two days after he was arrested by the Peshawar Police.

KARACHI: South Waziristan lawmaker Ali Wazir has been shifted to the metropolis, officials confirmed on Friday, two days after he was arrested by the Peshawar Police.
Wazir has been arrested for allegedly making a hate speech. He was taken into custody two days ago by the Peshawar Police as on instructions by the Karachi Police.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Wazir said he had no idea why he was detained in Peshawar. I have received pre-arrest bail as well, he had said at the time.
It is true, whether mainstream media or social media (SM) plays an important role in engaging the public. SM management for police is a demanding job. Around the world, different countries' police departments are using SM platforms for updating and keeping the public informed about police related matters. The police are responding along with taking up notices of issues related to law and order on SM platforms by delivering services and building positive image. Police have a unique relationship with the public with whom they are directly dealing on a daily basis. For police, SM would help in making strong connections with communities because a community always focuses on good work of police. Although all forms of SM capture rapid attention to disseminate information as compared to mainstream media.

PESHAWAR: A member of the National Assembly from South Waziristan and senior member of the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM), Ali Wazir was arrested from the provincial capital on Wednesday.
Reports said Ali Wazir had come to Peshawar to participate in an event on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the attack on Army Public School (APS). The Superintendent of Police (SP) Cantt, Tahir Wazir, was heading the police party that arrested Ali Wazir from the limits of the East Cantonment Police Station.
Capital City Police Officer Mohammad Ali Gandapur confirmed that the PTM leader had been taken into custody. Officials said the PTM MNA was wanted by the Karachi Police where a case has been lodged against him at the Sohrab Got Police Station under six different sections on December 6.
