LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Cammy Pereira’s pair of solo home runs to right-center field were enough for Clemson ace Valerie Cagle and the Tigers to secure a 2-0 victory over Georgia Tech in the program’s ACC Tournament opener. Cagle (25-4), the ACC Player of the Year, threw her 10th complete-game shutout and matched her career-high 14 strikeouts as the Tigers advanced to the ACC semifinal. With the victory, Clemson secured the win to improve 41-5 overall on the season.
Pereira’s second-inning shot proved the decisive one, but for good measure the Clemson infielder blasted her second of the game and third of the season, all of which have come against Georgia Tech, in the sixth inning to give the Clemson ace an insurance run headed into the final frame. Cagle ultimately only needed Periera’s first bell-ringer to advance her team in the tournament.

With runners on second and third base, Clemson’s Ansley Gilstrap worked a 3-1 count against Alexa Romero. On the fifth pitch of the at-bat, Romero’s pitch was outside the strike zone, putting Gilstrap on first and loading the bases. Not even four innings into the contest, Romero walked her fifth batter of the game her second of the inning. Syracuse trailed 3-2, putting the graduate student in a tough spot.
Romero was able to strikeout the Tigers’ top hitter, Valerie Cagle, swinging to end the inning. But the damage had already been done. SYRACUSE, N.Y. – In the program’s 69th game, the Clemson Softball team (38-4, 27-4 ACC) secured its 18th consecutive victory, setting the Clemson record for the longest winning streak by any women’s program in school history, after defeating Syracuse (19-21, 11-18 ACC) by a final score of 4-2 at Skytop Softball Stadium in Syracuse, New York on Friday afternoon.
Offensively, the Tigers were led by Cammy Pereira, who went 3-for-3 at the plate with one RBI and one run scored, and McKenzie Clark, who ripped a two-run homer to give Clemson its first lead of the game in the bottom of the third.

COLUMBIA, S.C. Propelled by three runs in the first inning, the No. 16 Clemson Softball Team (35-4, 22-4 ACC) shutout the University of South Carolina (23-16, 2-11 SEC), 6-0, Wednesday evening at Beckham Field. The victory extended the Tigers’ winning streak to 13 games as Clemson improved to 20-0 on the season when leading after the first. The Tigers also improved to 40-0 all-time and 23-0 this season when scoring five runs or more, and 26-0 on the year when homering at least once.
In the circle, Clemson ace Valerie Cagle (21-3) recorded her ninth complete-game shutout after registering eight strikeouts and surrendering just three hits. South Carolina pitcher Cayla Drotar suffered the loss and fell to 3-6 on the season.
