Airlines founder Udom dies of heart disease

Udom Tantiprasongchai, the founder of Orient Thai and One-To-Go airlines best known for founding the country s first low-cost airline, died of heart disease on Saturday. He was 66.
A chanting rite for Udom will be held at Wat Thep Sirintharawat until Saturday at 6pm, while his cremation will take place on Jan 24 at 5pm. Thank you for your contribution to the Thai sky and Thai aviation industry, said a message posted on @aviaknowledge, a Twitter account on the Thai aviation sector.
Born in Bangkok in 1955, Udom s family ran a leather tanning business. At 13, he moved to Taiwan, and later to Hong Kong, to study aviation maintenance.
