Schools hold monthly clean-up contest

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport will organise a “Cleanest School” contest with a winner chosen for every month this year.
The contests will be open to public educational institutions across the country ranging from pre-school to grade 12.
The ministry announced that the purpose for the contest is to encourage all educational institutions to pay attention to maintaining the very best standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
The announcement did not specify a clear starting date or schedule for the contests.

Universities set to offer over 9,000 full scholarships

A total of 9,130 full scholarships are being offered by 39 state and private higher education institutions for the 2020-2021 academic year.
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport urged students – all of whom have been allowed to skip Grade 12 national exams – to rush to apply for these seats.
A press release from the ministry detailed apportionment of the
scholarships into four groups, prioritising an allocation of 1,324 seats to female students, 1,738 to poor students and 578 to students from remote areas with the remaining 5,490 seats to be awarded to general students.

Students to learn info on human trafficking

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and the secretariat of the National Committee for Counter Trafficking (NCCT) have cooperated to incorporate human trafficking-related lessons into the primary school and high school level curriculum next year.
Education ministry spokesman Ros Soveacha told The Post on December 16 that the ministry has disseminated contents on the relevant rights, laws and international conventions into some subjects such as social studies, ethics, civics in Khmer language and science.
