Prince William risked conflict with his grandfather Prince Philip over his refusal to join the Royal Navy so he would not damage his relationship with Kate Middleton, according to a royal author.
The Duke of Edinburgh strongly suggested his grandson should join the Royal Navy when he graduated university, reports The Express.
Mentioned in dispatches during the Second World War himself, he loved his time in the Navy and thought it would be more fitting for a future King.
