IBM-owned Red Hat is to snaffle container security outfit StackRox and plans to fold the company s tech into its OpenShift platform.
The amount being spent on the acquisition was not shared, although Crunchbase reported that StackRox has picked up more than $65m of funding in recent years, with a $26.5m investment led by Menlo Ventures as recently as September last year.

BANNU: The Bannu district administration and the police on Thursday initiated action and registered cases against the organizers, political activists and service providers for the recent public meeting of the opposition’s Pakistan Democratic Movement for violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and others laws.
The organizers, who are also district office-bearers of various political parties were charged under different sections of the law, including violations of SOPs against coronavirus, district administration directives, demolishing wall of the sports complex, installing sound system/loudspeaker and others. Red Hat to acquire container security firm StackRox
US open source software giant Red Hat is set to acquire StackRox for an undisclosed amount. The transaction is expected to close in Q1 2021.
Through the acquisition, the company aims to bring StackRox’s Kubernetes-native security capabilities to OpenShift, Red Hat’s container platform. Red Hat provides open source software solutions, including Linux, hybrid cloud, container, and Kubernetes technologies.
Red Hat was co-founded by Canadian entrepreneur Bob Young in 1993.

Red Hat said the purchase would help it focus on securing cloud-native workloads by expanding and refining Kubernetes’ native controls and shifting security left into the container build and CI/CD phase. This will help provide a cohesive solution for enhanced security up and down the entire IT stack and throughout the lifecycle. Securing Kubernetes workloads and infrastructure cannot be done in a piecemeal manner; security must be an integrated part of every deployment, not an afterthought, said Red Hat CEO Paul Cormier.
