Dalia Davood, of Buffalo Grove, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Davood was initiated at University of Massachusetts. Davood is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. The following area students were recently initiated into Phi Kappa Phi honor society for all academic disciplines at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington: Krystal Byers, Codi Mann, both of Jacksonville; and Amy Somers of Swansboro.

VFW Post 9983 Scout of the Year
Noah Witkowski of Hampstead Boy Scout Troop 235 has been recently named VFW Post 9983 and 5th District Scout of the Year by exemplifying the qualities of the rank of Eagle Scout. Noah has earned over 70 merit badges and has completed over 195 hours of community service.
