Hawaiʻi Pacific Health Pier 2 Vaccination Site Moving to Kapiʻolani Medical Center

/ The state’s first mass COVID-19 vaccination site will close Saturday and relocate to Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women and Children starting Monday, Hawaiʻi Pacific Health announced. Since opening in January, more than 184,000 vaccine doses have been administered at the Pier 2 location, Hawaiʻi Pacific Health said. Executive Vice President Dr. Melinda Ashton said there was no longer a need for a large site now with less demand for the vaccine. We’re going to open up a center at Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women and Children. And partly we thought it was important to put it there because we’ve got the expectation that children under 12 will soon be able to receive vaccinations, Ashton said. We also have been using the Vaccine Bus that we send out in various locations around the island and that has allowed us to extend our vaccination efforts out into the community.
