Kano govt approves N1 2bn for additional works on Cancer Centre

Share Kano State Executive Council has approved the release of N1,235,777,282.70 being revised estimated cost for additional works that involves the construction of concrete roof slab at the Kano Cancer Treatment Centre (KCTC) situated at the premises of Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital, Giginyu, Kano. The state commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the council meeting held at the Africa House, Government House, Kano, said the world-class cancer centre is a brainchild of the administration of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje aimed at improving healthcare delivery and facilities to the teeming populace in the state.

Kano Transmits Child Rights Bill to State Assembly for Passage

Ibrahim Shuaibu in Kano Kano State Executive Council has approved the acceptable version of the proposed bill on Child Rights (protection) Act 2010, which reflected the position of Shari’ah on each section of the Child Rights Act (CRA) 2003 adopted by the federal government. The state Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, disclosed this yesterday as part of resolution of the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House in Kano. Garba said the administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, due to his commitment to child welfare, after assenting to the bill on Free and Compulsory Education, developed keen interest in seeing the passage of the CRA.

Punch Newspapers Sections Tukur Muntari, Kano The embattled Kano Cleric, Abduljabar Kabara, has dragged Governor Abdullah Ganduje to the Federal High Court over infringement of his fundamental right to life, conscience and religion. The cleric is also seeking an order of perpetual injunction restraining Ganduje, the Commissioner of Police in Kano and other states agents from oppressing, harassing and imposing any inhibition on him henceforth. Recall that the Kano State Government last week barred Kabara from preaching and promoting an ideology the government considered to be provocative and inciteful to peace and security. Challenging the action of the government in a motion of notice filed before the court in Kano, Kabara insisted that his right to freedom of expression, movement and peaceful assembly were being violated.
