Food benefits to increase on Wednesday, Jan. 20, by 15% for CT households enrolled in SNAP

CONNECTICUT, USA In a release from Governor Ned Lamont s office on Monday, the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) said it will provide $25.5 million federal food benefits to residents in two allocations this week through SNAP.
Starting on Wednesday, January 20, all of Connecticut s 213,590 households enrolled in SNAP will receive an average benefit increase of $45.91. The DSS says this increase will be the first of several which will continue through June. This aid totals about $8.5 million per month and was made possible by the federal Consolidate Appropriations Act of 2021.

Mayor Curt Balzano Leng is pleased to announce that the partnership between the Town of Hamden, Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center (CSHHC), Hamden Public Schools, and Quinnipiack Valley Health District will offer indoor COVID-19 testing at the Hamden Board of Education Building at 60 Putnam Avenue.
Testing will take place in the gymnasium 8:30am to 4:30pm on Tuesday, 12/22 and Tuesday, 12/29, and every Tuesday and Thursday beginning on Tuesday, January 5. This new testing program follows a series testing events over the summer at Hamden High School and the Keefe Community Center.
Testing is free of charge and is made possible through funding from the State of Connecticut Department of Social Services. Services are offered on a first come/first serve basis; no appointment or physician order is required. Testing will be available to all members of the community age 3 months and older, including people who do not have symptoms of COVID-19. No appointment or physician ord
