Subscriber only The southeast is set for another damp day after reports of up to 180mm falling in some parts of southern Queensland overnight. Â Â In southeast Queensland, 45.4mm fell in Coolangatta with another 30mm possible today. Nambour on the Sunshine Coast recorded 43.2mm, with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting an 80 per cent chance of up to 25mm more today. Â Â Â It comes as heatwave conditions have returned to the state s west, with temperatures expected to exceed the average by six to 10C. Birdsville is expected to reach 45C today, while Thargomindah and Longreach can expect to be as hot as 43C.

The rainfall has eased across Queensland s south-eastern corner but swollen Scenic Rim creeks have surrounded 11 campers, cutting off their access to essential supplies.
The Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter, usually used for surf lifesaving operations, was sent to the Canungra campsite on Tuesday to deliver fresh food and water to the stranded campers.

High winds ripped one roof off a house in Southport, causing it to fly onto the roof of another house.
The monster storm cell has also sparked havoc down by the south-east coast, with high tides washing over beachfronts at Victoria Point in Brisbane s Bayside.
High tides even swelled over the top of sea walls across the road in some cases, and into the front yards of homes and up driveways.
9News has been told if the tides swelled any higher, houses would have have been inundated.
