The Conjuring 3 Scares A Quiet Place Part II From Atop the Box Office
A Quiet Place II last weekend, moviegoers flocked to see New Line’s
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, which (per Deadline) grossed a stellar $24 million from 3,102 theaters, enough to claim the top spot at the domestic box office; and tout the largest opening for an R-rated film during the pandemic.
For comparison’s sake, the original
Conjuring opened to $42 million in 2013 en route to $320 million worldwide, while the 2016 sequel debuted to $40 million and totaled $322 million.
As for
A Quiet Place, the thriller took in $19.5 million in Week 2 (-59%) bringing its domestic total to $88.6 million. Overseas, the alien-invasion flick collected $19.2 million which bumps its worldwide total to a massive $138 million.
