Plans for £7m housing development in Moorside submitted to council Reporter: Charlotte Green, Local Democracy Reporter Date published: 06 May 2021 An artists impression of the site at Haven Lane Detailed plans for a £7 million contentious housing development in Oldham have been lodged with the town hall. A planning application for 23, three and four-bedroom detached homes in Moorside has been submitted. The proposals for the land on Haven Lane had been rejected by the planning committee in 2016, but that decision was later overturned by the planning inspectorate. That hit the council in the pocket to the tune of £35,000 after the inspector said costs should be awarded for ‘unreasonable behaviour’ by the authority.

Neil Tague Redrow has exchanged contracts on a 200-home plot between Royton and Shaw, while Cube Homes has submitted plans for a £7m development in Moorside. The purchase in Cowlishaw by housebuilding giant Redrow represents the sixth site acquisition announced by the firm’s Lancashire division this year. The site has outline consent, and a reserved matters application has now been lodged by advisor Ryan & May, with a hoped-for start date of early 2022. Redrow’s site sits off Cocker Mill Lane on the edge of Shaw, and will feature 205 new homes and five acres of green space, which will include a new orchard.
