Lucy Miocich

It is with great sadness that the family announces that Lucy Theresa Miocich died peacefully on Thursday July 1st, 2021 at Hogarth Riverview Manor, during rehabilitation from injury. Lucy was born August 11, 1918 in Fort William, before the end of the Great War and the beginning of the H1N1 influenza pandemic. She grew up in the roaring twenties and Great Depression, coming of age at the dawn of World War II. With fierce determination she pursued her career as a nurse, culminating in a position as Acting Consultant in Public Health Nursing 1968-1970. One of her career achievements was overseeing Polio Vaccination clinics that saved so many children from devastating disabilities.

The Catholic Women's League celebrates 100th Anniversary

Article content On June 27, 2021 in front of the St. Thomas More Church in Fairview, Alta. the Catholic Women’s League (CWL) was honored to plant a tree as a reminder of the CWL predecessors and their service to the Catholic Church, their God, and Canada. The planting of this tree also symbolized a reminder to continue to protect the environment. The shrub that was chosen to be planted by the Fairview CWL was a Rose Glow Barberry. This shrub attracts bees and the CWL hopes that the shrub proves to be deer resistant. We apologize, but this video has failed to load.
