Detroit offering grants up to $20,000 to faith-based organizations for COVID efforts Not always experienced in fundraising to support services provided Must participate in city-led workshops as part of grant application The city of Detroit is offering grants of up to $20,000 to local churches, mosques and synagogues to support their ongoing COVID relief efforts. The Faith Forward grant program is supported with $800,000 from funders including: United Way of Southeast Michigan, $250,000 Kresge Foundation, $250,000 Catholic Charities, $100,000 Jewish Community Relations Council/American Jewish Committee, $50,000 Grants will be available to organizations that have provided COVID-related community services over the past year, such as serving as vaccination sites, providing emergency support, health enrichment for seniors, mental health services and career development services.

Monroe s 100 Women Who Care choose Catholic Charities for donation The members of 100 Women Who Care Monroe County group selected Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan for their Q4 2020 donations. The amount from 100 Women Who Care was $5,282.67; with a match of $2,216.50, for a total of $7,499.77. The 100 Women Who Care co-founders Karen Schenavar and Sandra White then received a tour of the downtown Monroe Catholic Charities office from Wendy Klinski, director of behavior health. Catholic Charities, 25 S. Monroe St., provides counseling and addiction services, necessities for babies and other resources. The items that these donations paid for included a TV monitor and camera to allow for Zoom video conference group sessions; along with supplies and games for the children s therapy sessions, as the counselors have been purchasing many of the children s items with their own money.
