Knife Rights’ Ohio Knife Law Reform Bill Signed by Governor!
U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- Monday, April 12, is the enactment date for SB 140, Knife Rights’ Ohio Knife Law Reform bill. Effective April 12th, Ohio knife law is changed in the following manner:
The ban on manufacture and sale of “switchblade,” “spring blade” and “gravity” knives is repealed. Possession and open carry has always been legal and concealed carry was legal except for the jeopardy inherent in the extreme vagueness of Ohio’s concealed “deadly weapon” law.
The issue of that troublesome vagueness is now cleared up because a knife, razor or cutting instrument can no longer be considered a “deadly weapon” or “weapon” when concealed unless it is used as a weapon. This allows carrying any knife concealed under state law unless it is actually used as a weapon to commit an illegal act.

Knife Rights Vermont Switchblade Ban Repeal Introduced
U.S.A. –-(AmmoLand.com)- Longtime Knife Rights friend Vermont Representative Patrick Brennan has filed H.254 to enact Knife Rights’ signature Knife Law Preemption in Vermont. The bill simply adds “knives” to the existing Vermont firearms preemption statute.
Knife Law Preemption repeals and prevents local ordinances more restrictive than state law which only serve to confuse or entrap law-abiding citizens traveling within or through the state. Preemption ensures citizens can expect consistent enforcement of state knife laws everywhere in a state.

CORRECTION: The effective date of Senate Bill 140 is April 12. The earlier version of this story incorrectly said it would go into effect April 10.
Rick Hinderer wants to add to his business with new employees, new machinery and possibly an expanded building, and a new Ohio law will allow him to bring his plans to fruition.
The state s knife-law reform bill, Senate Bill 140, will take effect April. 12.
SB 140 repeals a statewide ban on the manufacture and sale of automatically opening pocket or folding knives and defines any knife or cutting instrument as a weapon only if it is used as a weapon. That new designation will allow carrying any knife concealed under state law.
