McAuliffe presented leadership award posthumously
OKLAHOMA CITY – Mike McAuliffe, a member of Leadership OKC Class VII who lost his life to COVID-19 in November, was named recently to receive the organization’s Distinguished Leadership Award posthumously.
The award recognizes and honors outstanding volunteer work in the local community. McAuliffe was a longtime civic leader, “visionary, event planner extraordinaire, consummate promoter, advocate, and tireless volunteer of all things Oklahoma City,” Leadership OKC said in a release. “His love for his city, his state, and the people in it was unrivaled.”
Among other things, McAuliffe was an ardent supporter of local iconic events such as “Opening Night” New Year’s Eve celebrations, the Oklahoma City Jazz Festival and the OKC Holiday River Parade. He was involved with the Oklahoma River Foundation, Allied Arts, Make-A-Wish Foundation, OKC Rotary Club 29, the OKC Philharmonic and numerous other civic organizations.

OKLAHOMA CITY -
After a year of delays, COVID protocols, and partial shows, The Oklahoma City Ballet is celebrating a full slate of shows for their 50th anniversary season.
The season begins outdoors at Scissortail Park on September 10 with a free show called Ballet Under The Stars.
Dancers are currently hard at work in off-season practice.
Soloist Autumn Klein is preparing for several shows this summer.
“I cannot wait to be back dancing with my friends. We’ve been split into half the company in pods, so just being able to do a full production again that’s when ballet really shines,” Klein said. “You can tell a whole story, like Alice in Wonderland, which we have not been able to do for a year.”
