The accident, which killed volunteer firefighter Tom Royds, occurred around 20 minutes after a  collision between two cars on the westbound expressway in Lower Merion. Royds and other members of the Lower Merion Fire Department had responded to the initial accident to close the highway s right lane and shoulder. A State Police trooper was questioning one of the motorists in the initial collision when Walker drove up the right shoulder, striking the trooper, three firefighters and the Altima, police said. A dashboard camera in a police car recorded the accident. One of the firefighters was thrown into the back of (a marked patrol vehicle), striking the rear door and leaving a large indentation, says the complaint, which reported no signs that Walker tried to brake before impact.
