EGG HARBOR - State 42 was closed on the north side of the village for nearly seven hours Thursday afternoon after a logging truck reportedly snagged an overhead communications line near the highway s intersection with Door County E.
The snag snapped the utility pole to which the line was attached and caused temporary power outages for about 3,200 homes and businesses.
The incident was reported at 12:08 p.m., closing the highway in both directions from Church Street to County E until crews from Wisconsin Public Service could make repairs and put up a new power pole. An announcement from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation estimated the closure would last at least two hours, and the road didn t fully re-open until 6:56 p.m., according to the department. Through-traffic was detoured during that time to county highways EE and A.
