On 20 May 2021, a national consultation meeting will take place online in Tashkent to discuss the draft policy document “National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2021-2030”.
It will bring together the representatives from the Islamic Development Bank (IsBD), the Ministry of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan, the UNESCO Tashkent Office, the Natural Sciences Sector of UNESCO Headquarters and a number of national and international stakeholders such as development partners and institutions.
The event is facilitated by the Islamic Development Bank, UNESCO Headquarters and the UNESCO Tashkent Office, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Innovation Development of Uzbekistan within the framework of the UNESCO-IsBD project on strengthening inclusive Science, Technology and Innovation System in Uzbekistan .

New Head of International Relations and Corporate Strategy at Teagasc
Paul Maher has been appointed as the new Head of International Relations and Corporate Strategy in Teagasc. The appointment was approved by the Teagasc Authority at its meeting on Wednesday, 3 March. He takes over from Dr Lance O’Brien who retires in April having served in Teagasc for over 40 years in a range of strategic planning and developmental roles.

Over the last 10 years Paul Maher has led the strategic development and modernisation of the Teagasc advisory and life-long learning programmes in his role as Assistant Director of Knowledge Transfer. Prior to that he worked in Teagasc in organisation wide functions such as business evaluation, business planning and risk management as well as farm financial management, advisory and education roles. It’s the start of another Florida Legislative Session with a familiar theme insurers pushing for reforms they say are needed to help the state’s distressed insurance market. Only this year the need is more urgent than ever, according to industry experts and stakeholders, as consumers face unprecedent rate increases and constrictions in coverage availability.
“We’re advocating that the legislature take a good look at some of the issues that are plaguing the Florida property insurance market right now to see if we can make some reforms to stabilize not only the performance of the carriers, but also the impact that has on the consumers,” said Florida Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier in an interview with Insurance Journal. “One of the major if not the major focal point for our office … is working on this very challenging time.”
