Teased in sketch form back in March, Volkswagen has taken the wraps off of the new compact Taigo crossover South Africa will be getting next year.
Sporting a coupe bodystyle and riding on the same MQB A0 platform as the Polo, T-Cross, Skoda Fabia and Seat Ibiza, the Taigo merely rates as a Europeanised version of the South American Volkswagen Nivus that debuted last year.
Confirmed to be built at Wolfsburg’s Pamplona plant in Spain rather than at the São Bernardo do Campo Plant in São Paulo, Brazil, the Taigo measures 4266mm in overall length with the wheelbase rated at 2566mm, the width at 1 757 mm and the height at 1494mm.

Volkswagen Philippines has heard you. After releasing a P 3.650-million tentative price earlier this month, Volkswagen has released the finalized price for its new premium MPV, the Multivan Kombi. And surprise: it’s now made more affordable.
Released just today, the 2021 Multivan Kombi is priced at P 3,595,000 for the monocolor version and P 3,640,000 for the bi-color version.
The Philippine-spec Multivan Kombi packs a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The 330 TDI engine makes 150 horsepower at 3,250 to 3,750 rpm and 340 Nm of torque at 1,500 to 3,000 rpm. This engine is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic with a coasting feature.

Volkswagen of America has announced that it will end assembly of the Passat at its Chattanooga plant, with model year 2022 being the last for the sedan. To celebrate more than a decade of Passat production in the United States, the company has revealed a short-run Limited Edition that pays tribute to the sedan’s history as well as Volkswagen’s presence in the country.
“We’ve sold some version of the Passat for nearly 50 years, and the Passat launched our relationship with Chattanooga, which supports thousands of jobs,” said Scott Keogh, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group of America. “With the Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport in high demand, and the North American production launch of the all-electric ID.4 SUVnext year, our future in Chattanooga looks brighter than ever,” he added.
