TDP corporator Kaki Govinda Reddy has said that there will be no change in the attitude of the Centre on privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) until MPs M.V.V. Satyanarayana (Visakhapatnam) and B.V. Satyavathi (Anakapalle) resign from their posts.
Addressing a media conference here on Monday, along with Corporator Lella Koteswara Rao and senior TDP leaders Ramana Reddy and HMS president D. Appa Rao, Mr. Govinda Reddy said that there was no response from the Union government though widespread agitations were being organised for the past 53 days. The handing over of the plant to private investors would result in injustice to 8,500 ‘R’ card holders, who have been waiting for jobs in the steel plant, till date, he said.

Though the YSR Congress Party has won 58 out of 98 wards in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Council (GVMC) polls, it has lost some wards to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and other parties where it has MLAs. On the other hand, it had made good inroads into areas where the sitting MLAs are from the TDP.
It has lost in 11 wards in Gajuwaka area, where the MLA is Tippala Nagi Reddy from YSRCP, lost in five in Bheemili, which is the constituency of Tourism Minister M. Srinivasa Rao, seven in Pendurthi, where YSRCP MLA is A. Adeep Raj and five in South Constituency, where TDP MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar had shifted loyalties to the YSRCP.

VIJAYAWADA: Expectations of impressive performances are high among all political parties, particularly with regard to their winning prospects in the municipality and corporation elections.
YSRC is hoping for a clean sweep in 12 municipal corporations and 71 municipalities while the main opposition Telugu Desam is equally hopeful of grabbing main municipalities and Corporations.
Most parties have unofficially conducted exit poll surveys and they are busy analyzing the results.
