Case fatality rate of Covid-19 in J-K lower than other states: WHO official

The case fatality rate of COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir is lower compared to other states in the country, which indicates the disease is under control, surveillance medical officer of the WHO here said on Saturday. Dr Ashiq Rashid Mir, Surveillance Medical Officer, World Health Organization, Kashmir Division, expressed optimism over the recovery rate of positive cases along with less case fatality rate in Jammu and Kashmir compared to the rest of the states. This is the main indicator which shows the disease is under control, he said. Mir said with the cooperation of the people, the impact of the pandemic could be subdued to a large extent.

Atal Dulloo for effective implementation of 5-pronged strategy to fight Covid

Share Jammu: With an aim to tackle the recent upsurge of Covid 19, Financial Commissioner, Health and Medical Education, Atal Dulloo today impressed upon the officers for effective implementation of the 5-pronged strategy in J&K which includes testing, containment, isolation & treatment, Covid appropriate behaviour and vaccination. He made these remarks during a review meeting at Civil Secretariat here to analyse district wise Covid-19 scenario and the implementation of 5-pronged strategy to tackle the upsurge. The FC directed the concerned officers to expedite the testing and vaccination drive, study the increase of the test positivity rate and take remedial measures accordingly.

Three-month-old dies following Pentavalent vaccine inoculation

A three-month-old infant lost his life within 10 hours of being administered with the Pentavalent vaccine at Lavagada Anganwadi Centre of Arjuwa Panchayat under Pertawar Police Station on Friday.  The baby was the only son of villager Girish Karmali, who with other locals alleged negligence on part of the sahiya and the ANM. However, Civil Surgeon AK Pathak on Saturday brushed off the claims. “It is difficult to say that the baby died due to vaccination. As six other babies were administered the vaccine from the same vail on the day. They are fit and fine. We are probing into the matter,” he said.
