AFTER nearly 200 years, descendants of the original railway pioneers have been reunited to promote the historic line that their forefathers were instrumental in creating. Matthew Pease, the great-great-great-great-grandson of Edward “Father of the Railways” Pease has become the President of the Friends of the Stockton & Darlington Railway, while Jane Hackworth-Young, the great-great-grand-daughter of Timothy Hackworth, has become the organisation’s Vice-President. Edward Pease was the driving force behind the railway, which is regarded as the birthplace of the modern railway, and Timothy Hackworth was the Superintendent Engineer when the line opened on September 27, 1825. Cable installation work destroys GMC pipe in Guwahati, causes water disruption
The water disruption caused at Sarania, Ulubari, Lachit Nagar, Rehabari and surrounding areas was due to cable installation work on Friday.

Guwahati: During cable installation work on Friday, the pipeline of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) was damaged which had affected the water supply at Sarania, Ulubari, Lachit Nagar, Rehabari and surrounding areas.
As many as 10,000 people are affected due to the pipeline damage near the Paltan Bazar fire station.
The residents of the surrounding area are the worst hit. This is happening in the area for the third time this year causing problem for the people with disrupted water supply.
