Imagine that your high school student could take advantage of their junior and senior years, and be completely ready for work the day they graduate? Even if that new job required some higher education.
That will soon be possible according to the Louisiana Department of Education. Beginning next fall, Louisiana high school juniors and seniors will be able to capitalize on a new pilot program allowing them to Fast Forward” their education. In a report from the Louisiana Radio Network, we learn that Superintendent Cade Brumley said the Fast Forward program allows students to be better prepared for life after high school while still in school.

The Louisiana Department of Education plans to use $8 million that the legislature has awarded to the department to purchase new computers for students. State Superintendent Cade Brumley explains how the funding originated.
“The legislature reallocated some of the CARES Act dollars from the Federal government, pushing that $8 million to us so that we can supply systems with additional Chromebooks for the spring semester,” said Brumley.
Brumley says the department just received news of the funding and they are working on a plan to purchase and distribute 23,000 Chromebooks to school systems in need across the state.
