NEWARK, NJ – Flanked by the state s top law enforcement officials, Governor Phil Murphy on Thursday announced a sweeping series of reforms aimed at reducing the epidemic of gun violence. The Governor said these wide-ranging proposals would build upon previous steps taken in recent years to reduce gun violence and will further solidify New Jersey’s standing as a national leader in gun safety.
“Half of New Jersey’s gun homicides occur in only five cities, and the number of gun crimes in these cities has skyrocketed over the last year,” said Murphy. “We cannot sit back when we know there is more to do to address the danger of gun violence in our communities. By taking the steps we are announcing today, we will further commit to making every block and every street in our state safer.”

Israel has not influenced U.S. law enforcement by training it to be more violent, but rather has served as a model in creating the American Security State.
A lot of attention has been directed recently at the “training” American police receive from Israel. It’s extensive and pervasive. The point, however, is not that Israel has made US police more violent. They were violent and repressive a century or more before Israel was even established. It isn’t even that Israel has helped militarize the US police. It has, of course, but in response to fundamental shifts in the American political and economic scene.
Troopers with the New Jersey State Police and other law enforcement agencies were busy over the past few days as they arrested 14 fugitives in Atlantic County, including three people wanted for homicide and one for kidnapping.
Authorities say during a three-day operation, detectives from the State Police Fugitive Unit along with numerous other federal, state, county, and local law enforcement agencies targeted fugitives that were alleged violent criminals who had arrest warrants and were alleged to be involved in recent criminal activity in Atlantic and Ocean Counties.
From Wednesday, December 9th, through Friday, December 11th, 14 fugitives were apprehended across Atlantic County.
