COVID-19: 34 deaths and 473 cases – less than five in Waterford

34 more COVID-19 deaths and 473 new cases have been announced this evening. However, only three of the deaths took place this month – with the others relating to January, February and March. In Waterford, less than 5 new cases were recorded and the county’s incidence rate is now at 57 cases per 100,000 people. The county is doing well when compared with the national average which is now 145. Meanwhile, for the first time in months, there’s been an increase of less than five Covid cases in the majority of Waterford’s local electoral areas. The latest figures show that in the last two weeks up to Monday, four of the county’s six areas had an increase of less than five cases.

UPDATE: 7 deaths and 400 new cases of Covid for Thursday, April 8 Reporter: );   ); The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today, Thursday, April 8 been notified of 7 additional deaths related to COVID-19. Of the deaths reported today 2 occurred in April, 2 occurred in March and 3 occurred in February.  The median age of those who died was 78 years and the age range was 62 - 89 years. There has been a total of 4,737 COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland. As of midnight, Wednesday 7th April, the HPSC has been notified of 400 confirmed cases of COVID-19. There is now a total of 239,723 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.
