Sierra Wireless resumes production after ransomware attack

Canadian IoT solutions provider Sierra Wireless announced that it resumed production at its manufacturing sites halted after a ransomware attack that hit its internal network and corporate website on March 20.
After learning of the attack, the company hired the services of KPMG, one of the world’s leading forensic investigation and cyber incident response firms, to lead Sierra Wireless’ response and investigation into the incident.
Siera Wireless IT staff is currently working on restoring its internal systems after bringing back online its corporate website.
The Canadian multinational added that the ransomware attack did not impact its customer-facing products and services since the affected internal IT systems are separated.

A malware cyberattack on emissions testing company Applus Technologies is preventing vehicle inspections in eight states, including Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Massachusetts, Utah, and Wisconsin.

PHP s Git server hacked to add backdoors to PHP source code

Yesterday, two malicious commits were pushed to the
php-src Git repository maintained by the PHP team on their
git.php.net server.
The threat actors had signed off on these commits as if these were made by known PHP developers and maintainers, Rasmus Lerdorf and Nikita Popov.
RCE backdoor planted on PHP Git server
In an attempt to compromise the PHP code base, two malicious commits were pushed to the official PHP Git repository yesterday.
The incident is alarming considering PHP remains the server-side programming language to power over 79% of the websites on the Internet.
