Big construction firms have today been warned that they risk choking smaller companies of essential building supplies amid the current global shortage of raw materials.
The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) said that larger firms able to buy supplies in bulk were not yet feeling the pinch of the situation, which it said would get worse.
But, the government agency added, such bulk-buying meant that smaller firms were unable to get hold of essential materials like timber, cement, and roof tiles as easily as before.

By 1913 a collection office for Taylor & Nichols is listed on Tottenham Lane at the corner of Harvey Road.
Yet, mysteriously, the picture below which looks like it s from before 1910, shows a laundry in The Campsbourne trading as the Myddleton Laundry (there was no other laundry in The Campsbourne).
I m assuming that this was its trading name but the business ownership was under Messrs Taylor and Nichols.
The following snippet from Building Magazine in 1913 (Vol 104, 4th April) suggests that this is correct.

The company had grown from a small laundry set up at 90, Myddleton Road, Bowes Park at around the turn of the century by Messrs W. D. Taylor and G. H. Nicholls. Although always listed in local directories as the Taylor & Nicholls Laundry, it traded under the name of thr Myddleton Laundry.
