Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly (NA) Standing
Committee on January 6 hosted a gathering of current and former legislators on
the occasion of the 75th anniversary of
Attending the event were Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and other leaders.
Seventy five years ago, Vietnamese people from all walks of
life across the country casted their votes in an election to select deputies to
Vietnam’s first-ever NA, marking a milestone in the country’s history and
its democracy building process.
In her remarks at the event, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan
preschool education and has called on the private sector to
invest in building kindergartens to meet increasing demand.
Since
2016, the city has allocated more than 17 trillion VND (731.9 million USD) for
education and training development, according to the municipal Department of
Education and Training.
Thanks
to the fund, the city has created nearly 1,500 new classrooms each year,
including 300 for pre-school education.
Le
Hong Son, Director of the city’s Department of Education and Training, said the
rate of children aged 1-3 going to kindergarten accounts for 31 percent
and 86 percent for those aged 4-5.
The
city provides compulsory pre-school education for 99.6 percent of 5-year-old

HCM City (VNA) - HCM City held a ceremony on December 31 to
announce the
National Assembly Standing Committee’s resolution on organising
administrative units at the district and commune levels and establishing Thu
Duc city.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice NA Chairman Uong
Chu Luu said this is the first time the “city within a city” model has been used
in Vietnam, thus forming a highly interactive innovative urban area in the city’s

HCM City approved for one more place for New Year firework display
HCM City has been allowed to organise firework displays at one more location on New Year’s Eve.
The additional location is Saigon Hi-tech Park in District 9, which is aimed to mark the establishment of Thu Duc City. The city, which is the merger of districts 2, 9 and Thu Duc, will officially come into existence on March 1.
The low-range fireworks will be held at the park.
HCM City was earlier permitted to organise high-range firework displays at the entrance of Thu Thiem Tunnel in District 2 and at the 81-floor Landmark 81, Vietnam s tallest building on New Year’s Eve.

Legal proceedings started against case of COVID-19 Patient 1440
Director of An Giang province’s Department of Public Security, Col. Dinh Van Noi, announced on December 30 that the department’s Investigation Security Agency has issued a decision to begin legal proceedings in a case of organising illegal entry into Vietnam in the local district of An Phu on December 24.
Noi said that the investigation detected signs of criminal activity in the case, and decided to commence legal proceedings to expand investigations.
The province’s Department of Public Security is coordinating with the provincial Border Guard and An Phu district authorities in catching those that helped COVID-19 Patient 1440 illegally enter Vietnam.
