Kidney patients at higher risk for severe Covid-19

 04 Apr 2021 - 8:29 By Fazeena Saleem | The Peninsula The Ministry of Public Health has issued a set of guidelines for patients with kidney disease or who have undergone a kidney transplant. The Ministry has said that adults and children with kidney disease or other severe chronic medical conditions seem to be at higher risk for more serious COVID-19 illness. On its social media accounts, the Ministry has insisted that because of the increased risk for kidney patients, it is especially important to take actions to reduce risk of exposure. “It is thought that you are at increased risk of severe illness if you contract the virus and it is very important that you are particularly stringent in following the physical distancing measures,” said the Ministry. “For early stage kidney patients or transplant recipients, contact your health care professional or nephrologist with any questions or concerns,” it added.
