G-SHOCK Releases First Titanium Timepiece with an All-Mirror Finish

Today, Casio announces the latest addition to its popular G-SHOCK Full Metal GMWB5000 series, featuring a refined multicolor Ion-Plated Band and mirror finished bezel. The GMWB5000TR-9 introduces a new titanium material called “Tran Tixxii,” which was jointly developed over a six-year period by Casio and Nippon Steel Corporation, Japan’s largest steelmaker, resulting in a hardness that is approximately twice that of pure titanium, while offering a mirror surface comparable to that of stainless steel. The Tran Tixxii titanium alloy material makes the GMWB5000TR-9 the first titanium G-SHOCK with an all-mirror finish, alongside a screw back with diamond-like carbon (DLC) finish for outstanding wear resistance.

G-SHOCK MR-G MRG-B2000B and MRG-B2000R

Share this article Two new watches joining G-SHOCK‘s range-topping MR-G line take their inspiration from the armor of Japan’s Samurai warriors. Not only do the oversized watch heads bring to mind the traditional silhouette of a Samurai’s elaborate armored helmet but these two new models make use of kachi-iro or ‘victory color,’ a dark navy tone that the Samurai associated with winning and would use to decorate their armor for luck in battle. Here it is used as an accent color on the watches’ bezel, hands and dial. Another traditional Japanese motif, that of Uroko-mon, a triangular scale pattern, is used to bring texture to the dials.
