Deji Adeyanju, Co-Convener of the Concerned Nigerians Group has insinuated that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is sponsoring bandits and should be held responsible for the upsurge in security issues in the country.
Adeyanju, in a tweet via his Twitter account on Friday, wondered why Sheik Gumi who is always soliciting and asking for ransom for bandits is yet to be appended by the Buhari- led government.
According to him, the government would have put in much effort to bring an end to the constant kidnappings and killings carried out on innocent citizens by this bandits.
The State Coordinator, Comrade Abdulaziz Izmah disclosed this in a press statement made available to media organizations.
The statement said bulk of the beggars who are predominantly women and children have become more vulnerable to other social vices.
The statement further disclosed that not all the street beggars are Almajiri students, as victims displaced by bandits were forced into street begging as a result of attacks that ravaged their communities.
Although there are no statistical data of the beggars roaming the streets collected, it is clear that the number of street beggars is increasing at an alarming proportion.
Consequently, the NGO advised Katsina government, the council of Ulama, traditional and religious institutions to look into the possibilities of institutionalizing Zakkat in the State as the best means of empowerment to attain social security.
The students were kidnapped along Okigwe-Uturu Road, between the boundary road linking Abia and Imo States yesterday.
Ohanaeze in a statement signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary-General of the apex Igbo socio-cultural group and made available to DAILY POST on Thursday, said “the introduction of Northern styles) of abduction of students in the South East has reinforced our suspicions that Northern bandits are operating in the South East.”
Continuing, Ohanaeze Ndigbo noted that “The new dimensions and twists shows that Northern bandits and herdsmen had infiltrated Southeast.”
The organisation said that the rivalry between the two security outfits in the region, the Ebubeagu and Eastern Security Network, ESN, created loopholes for Igboland to be invaded by sponsored terrorists and hoodlums.

A cameraman working with the Information Unit of Jibia Local Government Area of of Katsina State was reportedly killed by bandits while responding to a distress call from one of his neighbours last Monday.
A source told DAILY POST that the bandits succeeded in kidnapping scores of travellers, including the mother of a traditional title holder in Niger Republic.
From Gurbi-Zurmi road in Zamfara to Jibia in Katsina has being a source of nightmare for travellers plying the road as bandits operate freely there, a source who pledge anonymity said.
“The security agents are on ground but the bandits operate at will without hindrance. The security agents seldom respond to distress calls,” the source was quoted to have said.
