Investigation Nets Drug Bust
OCEAN CITY A local man was arrested on drug distribution charges last week after a months-long investigation that began in September.
An Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) detective, who was sworn as a fully-vested officer of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, initiated an investigation into a male suspect reportedly selling drugs in the area of 9
th Street and the Boardwalk in September. Through the investigation, the detective was able to identify the suspect as Peter Demarie III, 41, of Ocean City, and also identified the suspect’s vehicle.
While conducting surveillance, the officer reportedly observed Demarie making multiple trips back and forth between his vehicle and the Boardwalk. The officer also reportedly observed Demarie was working at a Boardwalk piercing establishment. SNOW HILL The second of five individuals arrested in connection with a stabbing incident on the Boardwalk in June pleaded guilty last week to second-degree assault and was sentenced to 10 years in jail, all but six of which were then suspended.
On June 9 between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m., Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) officers responded to two serious assaults on the Boardwalk including one at 11
th Street and one at 15
th Street. In the 15
th Street incident, the victim was stabbed in the back. OCPD officers determined the same group of individuals were responsible for both assaults.
OCEAN CITY An Ocean City man was arrested on serious charges twice in less than two weeks after first allegedly choking his girlfriend to the point she nearly passed out and returning to allegedly assault her once an active protective order was issued.
Around 1:25 p.m. on Nov. 30, Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) officers were dispatched to a residence on 5
th Street for a reported domestic assault. The 911 caller told police her female neighbor came over to her house after being assaulted by her boyfriend, later identified as Michael Larock, 37, of Ocean City.
The officer met with the victim, who reportedly was upset and crying. The officer noticed the victim’s neck was red and she had difficulty speaking. The victim reportedly told police she walked to the store to get some food around noon. When she returned from the store, Larock was angry because she had not brought him food, according to police reports.
Rape Suspect Arrested
OCEAN CITY A Nottingham, Md. man who allegedly raped and sexually assaulted his juvenile niece at a resort hotel in July 2019 was taken into custody last week and formally charged.
On May 15, an Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) officer was assigned to investigate a reported sexual assault of a 13-year-old juvenile female at a resort hotel in July 2019. Child Protective Services advised the juvenile victim had disclosed to her therapist that her uncle, identified as Arlin Duley, now 31, of Nottingham, Md., had touched her under her shorts during a family vacation at an Ocean City hotel in July 2019.
