Native veterans support Deb Haaland ahead of historic vote Monday, March 15, 2021 WASHINGTON, D.C. Native veterans and allies are stepping up to support Rep. Deb Haaland (D-New Mexico) ahead of her final historic vote as Secretary of the Interior. Haaland, a citizen of the Pueblo of Laguna, comes from a military family. Her mother served in the U.S. Navy and her father was in the U.S. Marine Corps, a history she shared at her confirmation hearing last month. “My mother is a Navy veteran, was a civil servant at the Bureau of Indian Education for 25 years, and she raised four kids as a military wife,” Haaland told the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources during her opening statement on February 23.

Mar 9, 2021 Timothy Spencer Dennison, age 57, of Kiantone, N.Y., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021. Tim was born Aug. 31, 1963, and grew up on the family farm in Kiantone, graduating from Frewsburg High School in 1981. He received his BS and MS, both in Computer Science, from the State University of New York Institute of Technology in Utica, N.Y. His 20-plus year career in computer networking took him all over the world, including living for various lengths of time in New Hampshire, Minnesota, Seattle, Singapore, and Virginia. Following an early retirement for health reasons he returned to the family home in Kiantone where he spent his remaining years. In addition to his professional work Tim was an active volunteer with various organizations, including the Red Cross, serving as an emergency medical technician at sporting events, and managing computer systems for the Marine Corps Marathon for a number of years. Registration for virtual Marine Corps Marathon opens Wednesday Photo by: Marine Corps Marathon The Marine Corps Marathon Organization (MCMO) today announced that registration for the 46th Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) opens to the public on Wednesday, March 10 at noon Eastern. The 2021 MCM Weekend is currently scheduled as a virtual event with runners from across the country participating in the MCM, MCM50K or MCM10K from October 1 through November 11. Ambitious runners can once again sign up for the Semper Fidelis Challenge, a two-event challenge including either the Historic Half or the Devil Dog Double in May 2021 and the MCM or the MCM50K in October 2021. Runners may also pursue the Trifecta, a unique opportunity to participate in and complete all three MCM Weekend distances within the designated timeframe.
