First lady Jill Biden plans to visit Twentynine Palms base Wednesday

First lady Jill Biden visited with military spouses and children based in Twentynine Palms on Wednesday as part of a relaunch of an Obama-era program designed to support U.S. service members, veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors. “The men and women of the armed forces can’t be their best when they’re worried about all of you, the families who are struggling, and that’s why this … is a national security imperative,” Biden said. The “Joining Forces” program was started by former first lady Michelle Obama and then-second lady Biden in 2011.  Biden said she wanted to learn firsthand from families working at the Marine Corps installation in Twentynine Palms what they need from their country to succeed in and out of the military, and what is being done at the base to help military families across the country.

FIRST LADY DR JILL BIDEN VISITING THE TWENTYNINE PALMS MARINE BASE THIS MORNING

On her final day of her three-day trip to the West Coast to visit military bases, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden visits the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms today. Monday, Biden visited Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma, Washington, where she visited a children’s museum. Tuesday, she went to Naval Air Station Whidbey Island in Washington and got an up-close look at a Navy EA-18G Growler electronic attack jet and talked with spouses.
