Toms River NJ budget changed by furloughs and pension costs

TOMS RIVER - There s good news for township taxpayers in this year s municipal budget: no tax increase is planned. The $135 million budget the Township Council unanimously introduced Tuesday evening keeps the tax rate stable at 67.6 cents per $100 of assessed property value.  A homeowner with a house assessed at Toms River s average $276,854 would pay $1,872 in annual property taxes to fund the municipal portion of the budget. About 27% of a property owner s annual tax bill goes to fund municipal services, including police protection, code enforcement and trash collection, according to township Administrator Louis Amoruso. Taxpayers will contribute $88,122,128, or about 65% of the revenue necessary for township operations.

Waters has been trying to get a vaccine shot for soon-to-be-90-years-old father John Waters. Facebook Share By Sharon Waters With shows and concerts canceled, the hottest ticket now is an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine.
