Austal s 10th Guardian Class Patrol Boat goes to Solomon Islands
According to the company, delivery of the second Guardian-class Patrol Boat to the Solomon Islands signifies the halfway mark in the delivery of the Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement Project. The crew of the RSIPV Taro on board the vessel following the handover certificate signing.
Austal Limited (ASX:ASB) (OTCMKTS:AUTLF) has delivered its tenth Austral Australia Guardian-class Patrol Boat (GCPB) to the Australian Department of Defence.
The vessel, the RSIPV Taro, was then gifted by the Australian Government to the Solomon Islands Government.
This occurred during a certificate signing ceremony at Austal Australia’s Henderson shipyard attended by Solomon Islands High Commissioner to Australia Robert Sisilo, Federal Member for Stirling Vince Connelly and Royal Australian Navy head of Navy Engineering RADM Katherine Richards.

Australia and Solomon Islands’ strong and enduring security partnership has reached another milestone today as Solomon Islands received its second Guardian-class Patrol Boat under Australia’s Pacific Maritime Security Program.
The High Commissioner for Solomon Islands, His Excellency Mr Robert Sisilo, accepted RSIPV Taro on behalf of the Solomon Islands Government at a ceremony in Henderson, Western Australia.
Head of Navy Engineering, Rear Admiral Katherine Richards, AM, CSC, RAN said Australia and Solomon Islands have a long history of close security cooperation, based on a shared vision for a secure and prosperous Pacific.
“The new Guardian-class Patrol Boats play an important role in tackling our shared regional security challenges, and the delivery of RSIPV Taro is a significant milestone,” Rear Admiral Richards said.
