“Last year’s peak season coincidently began during the initial COVID-19 outbreak. We had to develop ways to fully support our customers in a virtual environment while implementing our installation’s requested 50% workforce reduction through telework initiatives,” said Jack Hilaman, NAVSUP FLC Yokosuka JPPSO director. “Like many others, we’ve found ways to professionally adapt to the pandemic and we will again strive to provide our customers with the service they deserve during the peak season.”
1 MANAMA, Bahrain Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain hosted a virtual Lean Six Sigma workshop for military, civilian, and foreign national personnel, April 26.
The workshop taught the fundamental knowledge and methodology of the Lean Six Sigma program, enabling participants to improve work performance and productivity to support command missions and increase customer satisfaction with fully developed projects.
Jacqueline Adams, the command continuous process improvement (CPI) champion of NAVSUP FLC Bahrain, coached a diverse group that included personnel from NAVSUP FLC Bahrain and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Distribution Bahrain.
“Improving processes that increase customer satisfaction and reduce time and costs is what we do at NAVSUP FLC Bahrain,” said Adams. “Lean Six Sigma provides the foundation for how we continuously develop our culture of excellence.”
In response to Navy Expeditionary Combat Command’s (NECC) demands for flexible procurement methods, Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Yokosuka launched the field ordering officer (FOO) pilot program.
The six-month pilot program was launched on March 31, 2021 and is expected to better support NECC as it operates in austere locations in the Indo-Pacific region, such as East Timor, Papua New Guinea and Tinian.

2 MANAMA, Bahrain – Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain delivered logistics support to the Eisenhower (IKE) Carrier Strike Group (CSG) while it operated in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations (AOO) during the month of April.
NAVSUP FLC Bahrain and its mission partners completed the month-long sustainment of the IKE CSG by delivering parts, mail and food from locations in Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
Coordination between NAVSUP FLC Bahrain and Commander, Task Force (CTF) 53, which is responsible for logistics support to 5th Fleet, including underway replenishment by Military Sealift Command-operated ships, ensured the IKE CSG maintained mission readiness through replenishment-at-sea evolutions and a logistics port visit to Duqm, Oman.
