Scott Martin | January 23, 2021 @ 11:28 am The Weather Roundup as of 11:00 am shows that most locations are seeing plenty of sunshine with only a few high clouds starting to drift across the state line from Mississippi. Temperatures were in the mid-40s to the upper 50s across the area. Troy was the warm spot at 58 degrees while the cool spot was Haleyville at 46 degrees. Birmingham was sitting at 51 degrees. We are still expecting skies to remain mainly sunny through the afternoon and into the early evening hours with afternoon highs topping out in the mid-50s to the lower 60s across the area. Clouds will begin to increase during the late-night and overnight hours, but we will remain dry. Lows will dip down into the mid-30s to the mid-40s.

Skies will be mainly sunny for much of the day, but clouds will begin to move in late. Afternoon highs will range from the lower 50s to the lower 60s from northwest to southeast. Sunday will feature mostly cloudy skies and slightly warmer temperatures. Some shower activity looks to move in during the late afternoon, mainly for the northern half of the state. Highs will top out in the mid-50s to the mid-60s from northeast to southwest.

Ryan Stinnett | January 22, 2021 @ 11:15 am Certainly a wet start to the day for nearly all of us, but as we approach the midday hours and head into the afternoon, drier air is moving into North Alabama, and the rain is ending gradually from north to south across the state. Still areas of showers persist, but most of the activity is now shifting down into South Alabama. It remains cloudy, be we are seeing some peaks of sunshine, with the clearing line to our northwest across but it will continue to sink south the rest of today and overnight. Temperatures are ranging from the 40s in the north, 50s in Central Alabama, with 60s down south. Tonight, the sky will become mainly clear and temperatures will fall well down into the 30s by first thing tomorrow morning.

Ryan Stinnett | January 21, 2021 @ 11:17 am Today and tomorrow will feature periods of rain and cloudy conditions with highs in the 50s and 60s across Alabama. At midday temperatures are in the 40s and 50s, but will continue to warm as we head into the afternoon. There is no risk for severe storms, and probably no thunder as the air is stable. Rainfall totals over the next 36 hours will range from 1/2 inch to around one inch for much of North and Central Alabama, but there will be higher amounts, closer to two inches possible across South Alabama. Most of the rain today is relatively light, but we should see heavier pockets of rain tonight and through the first half of tomorrow as an upper wave tracks across Alabama along the stalled front to the south.

Ryan Stinnett | January 19, 2021 @ 11:12 am A cold front is moving into Alabama today, and the we have been seeing a steady increase in clouds across the northern half of Alabama through the morning hours. There are even a few spotty showers, but these are few and far between and are not amounting too much due to limited moisture. Where it is cloudy with the showers, we are seeing temps in the 40s, while in sunny locations highs this afternoon will be in the mid 50s, while mid 60s are expected across South Alabama. The front settles down into South Alabama tonight and stalls the rest of the week.
