Recent figures released as part of workforce planning for
the Kāpiti District shows the mean annual earnings in
Kāpiti are just over $50,000 - around $20,000 lower than
the wider Wellington region, and $30,000 lower than
Wellington city; and the Kāpiti Coast Chamber of Commerce
says the gap between these figures must narrow if the
district is to attract more people to work and live in the
region.
The Kāpiti Coast District Council is
currently consulting with stakeholders on a plan to develop,
attract and retain a skilled and competitive workforce for

Kāpiti Coast District Council has maintained its AA
Standard and Poor’s credit rating for the
long-term.
In its latest report the independent
ratings agency Standard and Poors has affirmed its AA/A-1+
long- and short-term ratings, saying Council s experienced
management and New Zealand institutional settings support
the ratings while the district s economic profile tempers
these strengths.
Because of the investment approach in
the newly-adopted Long-term Plan 2021-41 there is potential
for a change in future years and this is reflected with a
revised outlook from stable to negative.

Calls for an investigation into significant risks for public health and safety in the event of Kāpiti Coast Airport closing have reached Minister of Health Andrew Little, following concerns voiced by a Wellington Hospital Intensive Care Specialist.
Dr Alex Psirides recently told Stuff that closing the airport in Paraparaumu would have significant clinical risk for time-critical conditions when Wellington was inaccessible because of poor weather or maintenance, leaving the lower North Island or upper South Island with no access to tertiary care hospitals and the nearest practical alternatives at least 130 kilometres away.
