CCF awards grants to Cambridge food pantries Community Content The Cambridge Community Foundation recently announced that it is awarding $40,000 in grants to 11 neighborhood food pantries and programs. These are the first in a series of grants planned by the foundation to quickly distribute donated funds back into the community to help nonprofits address emergency issues including food insecurity, housing insecurity and shelter for the homeless, cash for urgent needs, access to connectivity and emergency child care. The new grants, ranging in this round from $2,000 to $5,000, are administered from the Cambridge COVID-19 Emergency Fund. Over the past few weeks, donors across the city have given to the foundation’s second campaign for the Cambridge COVID-19 Emergency Fund, which is focused on helping neighbors during the 2020 winter.

City of Cypress announces City Council 2021 reorganization

At its December 14 meeting, the Cypress City Council selected Jon Peat as Mayor and Stacy Berry as Mayor Pro Tem for 2021. Outgoing Mayor Rob Johnson and Mayor Pro Tem Mariellen Yarc were both recognized and presented with gifts of appreciation from the City and City Manager in honor of their eight years serving as Council Members. Mayor Jon Peat is serving his second term on the Cypress City Council. During his first term on the City Council, he also served as Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem. Mayor Peat is a leader of the Cypress Champions Baseball program, 1st Vice Chair of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Anaheim-Cypress, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Cypress. Additionally, he serves as a volunteer for the Champions Club special needs ministry and as an elder at SeaCoast Grace Church.

(Scott Smeltzer / Staff Photographer) Loretta Adrian hasn’t left Orange County yet, but she’s already thinking about all the things she’s going to miss. She said she’ll miss her faculty, staff and colleagues. She’ll miss the students at Coastline College, where she’s served as president for the three satellite campuses for over a decade. And she’ll miss the abundance of Vietnamese food here “I love food,” she added, laughing. There’s other things Adrian will miss when she retires in June but for now, she’s enjoying her time before she steps down.
