Stacey Liam Bowen, 64, of Mashpee died July 17. Ms. Bowen had lived with mitochondrial myopathy, a neuromuscular disease, for the last 25 years. More recently, she had been diagnosed with advanced uterine cancer.
Born in Boston, she moved to Brewster at the age of 9. After graduating from Nauset Regional High School, she earned a degree in fire science in 1977 from Cape Cod Community College.
Ms. Bowen was a mooring officer and assistant harbormaster for the Town Of Barnstable from 1988 to 1995 before the increasing severity of her disease forced her retirement from that position.
An active member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for more than 15 years, one of her proudest achievements was being one of the crew of the original restoration of the floating museum, Coast Guard Motor Lifeboat 36500, in 1982.
