A total number of 599 Sri Lankans, who were stranded in many foreign countries due COVID-19 pandemic, returned to the country and arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), the Airport Duty Manager said.
He said all passengers who had arrived at the airport by six passenger flights. 390 Sri Lankans arrived from UAE, 120 from Melbourne and 69 from Sydney, Australia during the past 24 hours, he said.
The returnees and their luggage were subject to stringent health checks and disinfection process at the airport and then subject to PCR tests.

Okogwu had taken to his Twitter handle @chikeiq on Monday morning to narrate his experience, saying he was denied boarding despite meeting all the conditions.
“This is indeed the height of discrimination against persons with Disabilities in Nig. I booked a 7:20PM flight from Abj-Lag which was rescheduled to 9.05PM.
“I got my boarding pass only for DanaAir to say a new policy forbids carryn us with wheelchr,” he wrote on his Twitter page.

A person with disability, Dr Chike Okogwu, has accused Dana Air of discrimination stating the airline barred him from boarding with a claim that ”a new policy forbids carrying” passengers ”with wheelchair”.
In a thread of tweet on Monday, Okogwu, complaining of the alleged unfair treatment said; ”This is indeed the height of discrimination against persons with Disabilities in Nigeria.
