Ogun Customs seizes 7,000 bags of foreign rice in March On James Ogunnaike – Abeokuta The Ogun Area 1 Command of Nigeria Customs Service, Idiroko, says it has seized 7,000 bags of parboiled foreign rice equivalent to 12 trailers in the month of March. The Command Area Comptroller, Peter Kolo, who disclosed this at a press briefing in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, said the command had never recorded such quantum seizure of prohibited rice. Kolo, who gave the total seizures of various contraband goods in the month of March as 167, added that the Duty Paid Value on the contraband amounts to one hundred and sixteen million, five hundred and eighty-six thousand, six hundred and seven Naira, zero Kobo (N116,586,607.00).

Vanguard News Customs Apapa Command generates N159.58bn On Kindly Share This Story: The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Apapa Command on Monday disclosed that it generated over N159.58 billion in the First Quarter of 2021. The Area Controller of the command, Ibrahim Yusuf, in a media briefing said that the revenues were receipts from customs duty and other charges. He said the amount represented a 44.8 per cent increment on duty collection when compared to the 2020 figure of over N110 billion of the same corresponding months of January to March. “The difference recorded was made possible because of robust stakeholders engagement, officers’ resolve in discharging their duties and increased level of compliance in the trade’s zone,” he said.

Customs Strike Force seizes N786 9m contraband in Kano, Jigawa

By Rabiu Sani-Ali Kano, April 9, 2021 The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Strike Force Zone B, says it has seized contraband with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N786.91 million in the past three months. Mr Oseni Olorukooba, the Coordinator, Comptroller-General of Customs Strike Force Zone B, stated this while displaying the seized items on Friday in Kano. Olorukooba said that the Strike Forced seized assorted contraband and other smuggled goods in Kano and Jigawa between January and March 2021. He said the seizures were made through intelligence gathering at different times and locations in its areas of operation under the Anti Smuggling Activities.
