National Federation Party parliamentarian Lenora Qereqeretabua is calling on the Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Board (TSLB) to reconsider its decision to suspend support for students wishing to enrol in medicine and dentistry at the Fiji National University (FNU).
Ms Qereqeretabua said the move would affect students from poorer socioeconomic backgrounds who, despite having worked hard to attain the required marks, would not otherwise be able to afford the tuition fees for these programs.
“Where are families expected to get these amounts in the current economic situation and at such short notice?” Ms Qereqeretabua said.
