Highways around Saskatchewan were getting treacherous late Monday.
The Highway Hotline put a “Travel Not Recommended” advisory on the Trans-Canada Highway, stretching from just east of Regina all the way to Saskatchewan Landing just east of Swift Current.
That stretch of highway was covered in ice, with drifting snow, packed-in snow and reduced visibility. The eastbound lanes were closed on Highway 1 from Rush Lake to Mortlach because of jackknifed semis.
Another major road where travel is not recommended is Highway 11 from Regina to Dundurn.
The same advisory applies to many roads in the same area, including Highway 6 north of Regina to Southey and south of the city to the 306 junction, Highway 33 southeast of Regina to Kronau, highways 2 and 301 near Moose Jaw, Highway 63 for 43 kilometres southwest of Moose Jaw, Highway 19 from Hodgeville to the Trans-Canada junction and Highway 363 near Hodgeville and Neidpath.
