NXT recently announced the return of the fan-favorite Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and we re already starting to see teams announced for the big tournament. In the midst of all the chaos during tonight s NXT New Year s Evil fans got a very unexpected surprise with the announcement of the first-ever Women s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and there are already several stars looking to pair up for their chance to win the tournament and add an impressive gauntlet to their resume. The best division on the planet will now take part in the #DustyCup!

Tonight s NXT New Year s Evil featured a host of fantastic matches throughout the night, but in the midst of it all, they gave fans another event to look forward to. Towards the end of the evening, NXT revealed the time and date of the next TakeOver, and it will take place on Valentine s Day, February 14th. Nothing else was teased in regards to the matches we might see or if the event will have an overall love theme, but since it is taking place on the big day, we d imagine it will very much have at least a few love-themed aspects to it.
After weeks of hostilities, Rhea Ripley will look to finally settle her longstanding issue with Raquel González in what promises to be a brutal showdown, as the powerful adversaries will lock horns in a Last Woman Standing Match at NXT New Year’s Evil. The Nightmare and “Big Mami Cool” have warred with each other for months, with tensions reaching a boiling point more recently. The two were on opposite sides of an epic Women’s WarGames Match, where González scored the winning pinfall to establish her dominance. A couple of weeks later, González also cost Ripley a loss to Toni Storm, interfering and sending Ripley shoulder-first into the ring post.

On this episode, Denise recaps both AEW Dynamite s New Year s Smash and WWE NXT s New Year s Evil both of which were heavily promoted and featured fully stacked cards.
On the AEW side, AEW Dynamite presented night one of AEW s New Year s Smash. The card for AEW s New Year s Smash included: Kenny Omega defending his AEW World Championship belt against Rey Fenix, a singles match between Jake Hager and Wardlow, plus more.
Then over on the NXT side of things, they held New Year s Evil. Matches featured included Raquel Gonzalez vs. Rhea Ripley in a Last Woman Standing Match, Karrion Kross vs. Damian Priest and in the main event Kyle O Reily vs. Finn Balor for the NXT Championship.
