Aurora Theatre Company will continue its 29th season with Toni Morrison s THE BLUEST EYE, adapted by Lydia R. Diamond. Associate Artistic Director Dawn Monique Williams (Bull In A China Shop) directs this poignant drama about Black girlhood, the poisonous effects of racism, and the heartbreak of shame.
THE BLUEST EYE will be presented as an audio drama, consistent with Aurora s reimagined digital 2020/2021 season due to the COVID-19 health crisis. The audio drama opens April 9th, and will be available through Aurora s new membership program, and also for individual release.

Baxter is Catholic and his wife is Jewish. Joshua Faudem, whom he hired to make the film with him and who was also near the blast, is Jewish.

“I wanted to be involved in a film that could make a difference,” Baxter said, adding that the attack was the first time British nationals acted as terrorists in Israel. He said both his eardrums were blown out, so skin had to be taken from his neck and used for his ear. He said doctors told him he was the first to have this surgery, “because when you’re just feet away, usually you are dead.”

WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman-elect Ritchie Torres, who has described himself as a “pro-Israel progressive,” said Monday he won’t align himself with the four Democratic representatives known as “the Squad” due to their criticism of Israel.
“I came to observe that there are activists who have a visceral hatred for Israel as though it were the root of all evil,” Torres, one of two openly gay Black candidates elected to Congress last month, told the New York Post. “The act of singling out Israel as BDS has done is the definition of discrimination,” he added, referring to the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement against Israel.
