Friedman takes Division III pole vault title

June 03, 2021GILFORD On Tuesday, May 25, the weather was just right for the girls D-III State Championship meet. New this year was girls and boy s teams competing on different days due to COVID-19. In order to compete at states, an athlete must qualify at a meet earlier in the season. Only two Spartan girls qualified this year, Abby Friedman and thrower Isis Kelm.
The highlight of the meet was when Friedman took the state championshipo in pole vault. clearing eight feet. Friedman placed third in the high jump, clearing four feet, 10 inches.
Unused scholarship funds from the Reg Thurston Memorial Scholarship, and a decision on how these funds will be handled, was up for discussion by Wheatland County council members during the regular T
